In connection with new activities and wider international cooperation, as well as in accordance with our western partners’ recommendations, the management of the film company ROSPOFilm has decided to change the name of the film company: RFG (ROSPO Film Group).

The film company RFG (ROSPOfilm Group) and the sound recording company “Megaliner Records” have released a CD with the original soundtrack to the movie “Velvet Revolution”. The collection on the CD presents twenty-five compositions, overwhelming majority of which are created by composer Anton Garcia.

On November 17th, 2005 the film company RFG (ROSPOfilm Group) was accepted into the Producers Guild of Russia as a legal entity in accordance with the decision made by the Board of the Producers Guild of Russia. The non-profit partnership “The Producers Guild of Russia” was founded on September 14th, 1996. Today 62 producers and 13 organizations, engaged in manufacturing the audiovisual production, have already become members of the Guild.

As a part of Amur Autumn Film Festival in Blagoveshensk, Russia, Oleg Stepchenko attended master-class of Krzysztof Zanussi, the great Polish director (“Constanse” - Jury prize, Cannes Film Festival; “Life as a Sexually Transmitted Disease”; “The Year of the Quiet Sun” - Golden Lion and Pasinetti Award, Venice Film Festival; etc.). Mr. Stepchenko confessed that he is a big fan of Zanussi’s work and couldn't miss the opportunity to communicate with the great director personally.

Ticket for the American premiere

The first night of “Velvet revolution” took place at 8pm on August, 17, in Arclight Cinema in Hollywood. That was not an attempt to knock the spots off Hollywood, but the desire to let American audience get acquainted with the new Russian cinema. Among the audience and at the after party we spotted Peter Greene, actor (“The Mask”); Ken Nakamura, Canadian producer; members of American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ and leading film companies of Hollywood (Miramax, Dimension film), and, most certainly, the “Velvet revolution” filming team.

We are happy to report that the dubbing of “Jacked$” into English is almost complete. At the same time the Spanish version of the film which will feature a couple of recognizable voices is being finalized. It is expected that DVDs of the English and Spanish versions of the film will hit the market soon, and German and Italian audiences can expect the film to be released in their native languages as well. American production company E3 Media is producing the dubbing process in the United States.

“Dead River” begins

Film company RFG (ROSPOfilm Group)

Russian actors: Anna Churina, Oleg Taktarov, Alexey A. Petrukhin and Igor Zhizhkin will join forces with American actors: Michael Madsen, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi and Rosanna Arquette. E3 Media Group is the producer of this film. The tandem Madsen-Keitel will play a couple of detectives who are trying to struggle with a team of “maniacs” under the guidance of Alexey Petrukhin. The film will premiere and will be released during the spring of 2006.

Taras Bulba, a treasured character from historical Russian literature, will become the hero of a theatrical release. RFG (ROSPOfilm Group) is planning to produce a full-length historical film entitled “Cossack Host”. The producers of the film are planning to invite and work with specialists from China and India. The release of the film is scheduled for the beginning of 2007.

Filming in Kenya

The final episodes of the “Velvet revolution” were shot in mid March of 2005 in a Kenyan city of Mombassa. The members of the crew said the shooting was generally a success, except that there were a few external factors that did make the experience to be a tough one. One of them was the violent heat outside. While Moscow was buried in snow and freezing at -10C with the Muscovites skiing at full stretch, the night temperature in Mombassa was 30C above zero and the daytime heat exceeded 40C.

“Velvet revolution“ extends its geography

“Velvet Revolution”

The shooting has already taken place in Russia, the Ukraine, Czechia, and the United States. By now the list has grown by two more countries - Germany and Kenya. It‘s Frankfort on the Main where on March 14 and 15 one of the final stages of the action was shot. After that the filming group moved to Africa, where on March 16 to 23 outdoor exposure is planned. The very last episodes of the film will be shot in a Kenyan city of Mombassa. The Hollywood first night of the action is expected in August 17, 2005.

The film “Nothing‘s Ever Happened“, first performance of Masha Ozerenko, has been submitted to take part in the competition for “St. Anna“ reward among students‘ films. The 11th Russian Open Competition of students‘ first films for “St. Anna“ reward will be held on March 10 to 19, 2005 in the Cinema House (Dom Kino) in Moscow. Among the competitors are students' training films, films made as part of course or final examinations for diploma, first perfomances of 2004-2005, fiction and non-fiction films, animated films as well as trailers and videoclips.

They’ll start talking in English

The gangster action movie by Oleg Stepchenko will be released in America on video and on DVD. Especially for this purpose the movie is being dubbed into English (before that it was supposed to make subtitles to the picture), and what is very likely a Spanish dubbing of the film will be made as well.
