Shooting “Viy” in Moscow

On the set of “Viy”

From March 16 till March 23, 2008 the film company RFG, assisted by the FX Design Group company, is being engaged in one of the most complicated periods of the filming of the international project “Viy” in the “Tsentrnauchfilm” studio. This is the stage, when the work of graphic artists, animators and designers, which lasted for a year and a half, will be implemented through the images of monsters and vampires, born in the imagination of a classic of the world’s and Russian literature N.V. Gogol.

Specially for this shooting a production unit, filming the project, have arrived in Moscow from Chekhiya. The unit includes the film-makers, who took part in the production of several projects in Hollywood, namely: “Van Helsing”, “The Bourne Identity”, “The Brothers Grimm”, “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, “The Messenger: the Story of Joan of Arc” and many others. Besides, it is worth mentioning Oscar winner director of photography Vladimir Smutny, AMMI winner property master Karel Vanasek, Prague Quadriennale Gold Medal winner costume designer Jarmila Konecna, Oscar nominee stunt coordinator Jiri Kuba, AMMI nominee production designer Alexander Kozak, as well as one of the most popular in Chekhiya art director Jan Kadlec.
